OVERHEARD

“I’m optimistic that we will get ads from Stories to perform as well as Feed ads over time and the opportunity would be even bigger because it seems like Stories will be an even bigger medium than Feed has been.”

- Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook’s third-quarter earnings call

THE RUNDOWN

  • Snapchat expands beyond the app with the introduction of Snap Camera. This free desktop application lets users decorate webcam pictures and videos with AR features like Lenses. A custom integration with Twitch will let streamers appear as if they’re wearing digital masks of popular video game characters.
  • LinkedIn makes further advances into video by integrating video-sharing website Vimeo into its platform. Once accounts from both services are connected, users can publish videos from Vimeo directly to the platform and get video analytics from LinkedIn.
  • Facebook Watch is switching up its video programming approach with a new focus on big name talent. The unscripted, lifestyle programs that have been a staple of Facebook Watch up to now will be hard pressed to compete.
