Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger resigned this week, leaving many to wonder how the departure might impact the Facebook-owned app.


THE RUNDOWN

  • Snapchat is rolling out a visual product search feature. Stepping up its social commerce capabilities with a major new partnership, Snapchat now lets users take photos of products and link them directly to Amazon for purchase.
  • Facebook is testing the ability for Pages to join Groups. By letting business pages join groups, Facebook is giving brands a new way to build awareness and generate meaningful engagement within communities.
  • Instagram is trying out new features that aren't Snapchat copycats. In addition to confirmed features like GIFs in DMs and video tagging, the app is testing options like Quiz Stickers for Stories and a separate field for hashtags.
