59% of consumers are receptive to mobile ads while watching TV, compared to other activities such as eating a meal (36%) and shopping at a store (25%), according to a new survey. The findings shed additional light on today's increasingly distracted consumers, with 89% of smartphone users saying they watch TV while using a phone.

  • Netflix now lets users share movies and shows directly to Instagram Stories. The new integration provides a more seamless content experience, while also giving 400 million Instagram Stories users yet another reason to spend time on the platform.
  • Facebook is testing a new youth-focused video platform called LOL. Taking design cues from Snapchat and tapping into the internet's meme culture, the platform aims to help Facebook pull teens back into its ecosystem.
  • LinkedIn is introducing interest targeting capabilities. The new feature will let advertisers target users based on 200 different professional interest categories, which are determined by the type of content they interact with.


NYT Cooking

The New York Times Cooking is extending its “What to Cook” editorial content to social using Instagram Stories. Users are asked to screenshot a template, fill it out, and tag @nytcooking in their own Story to be featured on the NYT Cooking account along with a personalized recipe recommendation.
