Since being acquired in late 2017, TikTok has seen massive growth, recently hitting 1 billion downloads. The app is now ranked #3 in the app store, following YouTube and Instagram. Not surprisingly, monetization is around the corner. Read on for more.


  • Biddable ads are coming to TikTok, opening up opportunities for more marketers. If what we’re hearing is true, the ad platform’s advanced targeting methods and measurement tools will be comparable to Facebook’s.
  • Facebook announced a new premium video advertising option called Showcase. This offers an opportunity for brands to boost awareness via popular Watch shows and reach audiences that are harder to find on linear TV.
  • Instagram could soon launch a public version of its “Collections” feature, signaling that it wants to compete with Pinterest. This would likely alter Instagram's e-commerce functionality and increase engagement, but it comes at an interesting time for Pinterest, which just filed for its IPO.

The Warm Up


Fitness class subscription service ClassPass is using Instagram Stories to drive traffic to its blog, The Warm Up. With its creatively curated weekly roundup of articles, the brand joins publishers like The New Yorker and the Financial Times that are continuing to experiment with this “swipe up” strategy.
