October's most downloaded social app wasn't Facebook or Instagram—it was TikTok. The video sharing app formerly known as has gained more than 30 million users over the past three months, with monthly active users rising to 130 million.


  • Pinterest introduced carousel ads. Taking notes from Instagram and Facebook, Pinterest is letting advertisers include up to five images within one ad—perfect for showcasing product features or telling a multi-image story.
  • LinkedIn unveiled a public beta for objective-based advertising. The platform's revamped Campaign Manager aims to make it easier for brands to create campaigns based on a specific objective and measure their impact.
  • Instagram added the option to promote IGTV content through Stories. Further investing in the future of Stories, the platform is also testing a new "Promote" option to make it easier for brands to amplify their content.


Oscar Mayer

Oscar Mayer celebrated National Sandwich Day and sparked a heated conversation by taking on the controversial question: "Is a hot dog a sandwich?" Taking the position that a hot dog is, in fact, a sandwich, the brand prompted users to join the debate by using the hashtag #ChangeOscarsMind.
