57% of adults in the U.S. say that they are looking for ways to maintain their positive summer mindset through fall, according to a global survey commissioned by Pinterest. The platform, known for its focus on planning, is dubbing this end of summer moment the "new New Year" in terms of the type of content spiking with users.


  • Twitter is testing a new carousel ad format. The platform first introduced the carousel ad in 2016, which included multiple tweets in one unit. This new format promises much larger images, while retaining the ability to link out.


  • Instagram is testing a new messaging app called Threads. An extension of the Close Friends feature in Stories, the Snapchat-like platform will allow users to share intimate information like location and battery life in addition to text, photo, and video content.


  • Facebook added more badges for Page interactions. In addition to Group badges, users can now earn badges from Pages they interact with. Additions include "Rising Star" and "Anniversary Follower," which Facebook hopes will boost engagement.
