Only 51% of kids ages 13 to 17 use Facebook, according to a new Pew Research Center survey, down from 71% three years ago. The top three most popular platforms among teens: YouTube (85%), Instagram (72%), and Snapchat (69%). 


  • Facebook Marketplace is getting a major upgrade with the launch of a paid offering. In addition to letting users "Boost" listings, Facebook has introduced product ads from businesses within the classifieds section. 
  • Instagram is expected to support videos up to an hour long, much longer than the current one-minute restriction. The change would expand Instagram's ad inventory—an important development for brands running ads across channels.
  • Snapchat is planning to launch a developer platform to expand its ecosystem. With Snapkit, Snapchat will allow apps to offer a “login with Snapchat” option, use Bitmoji avatars, and host a version of its camera.
