1 billion. That's how many monthly active users Instagram now boasts. And in its latest research report, Facebook surveyed 10,000 of those users to find out what people want from Instagram Stories versus the feed. Among the findings: 71% of US consumers prefer to discover products in the feed, while 58% opt for Stories for unfiltered content.
THE RUNDOWN
Instagram is rolling out three new features: Video Chat, topic channels in Explore, and updated camera effects for Stories. Theserecent changesare intended to "bring you even closer to the people and things you love."
Twitter has taken new steps to crack down on bots and trolls. In addition to buying digital spam detection platform Smyte, the social network now requires confirmation of an email address or phone number to sign up for an account.
Facebook is testing a "snooze" feature, giving users more control over the content they see. The Keyword Snooze will hide posts containing specific words from the News Feed, Pages, and Groups for 30 days.
