OVERHEARD

"Be nimble. Be scrappy. Those perfect, polished videos? They belong on YouTube, not Instagram...We are just totally willing to try and fail and get something up."- Christina Peirona, Executive Director of Global Consumer Marketing at MAC Cosmetics at Social Media Week NYC. (Stay tuned for our full recap from the event.)

THE RUNDOWN

  • Facebook is testing News Feed trailers to drive people to Watch shows. "Preview trailers" will be added to regular shows appearing in feeds and play automatically, showing Facebook's move toward prioritizing the Watch platform.
  • Snapchat is rolling out a new ad type that will prompt user action direct from Lenses, incorporating a new call-to-action button. This comes as the platform continues to redesign its app interface to improve the user experience.
  • With 330 million monthly active users, Reddit now has as many users as Twitter (and more than LinkedIn). Not to be outdone, Twitter announced its second straight quarter of profitability and an uptick in daily active users.
