OVERHEARD

"I wish they knew how little resources we have and how quickly we'll fly by something. So the only way to grab our attention is if it's a really interesting ad and something we're interested in. They shouldn't be wasting their advertising dollars on something that's kind of random and that won't appeal to us." - young millennials and older Gen Z-ers share what they wish advertisers knew about them.

THE RUNDOWN

  • Facebook is removing more than 5,000 targeting options to prevent misuse of its ad platform. The network has removed demographic-based exclusion options and will be introducing a non-discrimination certification that will be mandatory for continued use of Facebook Ads Manager.
  • Instagram is testing a new "recommended posts" feature to boost content discoverability. Users will see these recommended posts at the end of their feed, after they're "all caught up" on the accounts they follow.
  • Twitch is ditching its universal ad-free viewing perk for Amazon Prime members. As part of Twitch's "aggressive growth strategy," this move aims to woo creators from YouTube with expanded advertising opportunities.
